Thanksgiving Day is an ancient festival created by the American people, and it is also a holiday for Americans to get together. At the beginning, there was no fixed date for Thanksgiving, which was temporarily decided by the states in the United States. It was not until 1863, after the independence of the United States, that President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. In 1941, the United States Congress officially designated the fourth Thursday in November as "Thanksgiving Day". The Thanksgiving holiday usually lasts from Thursday to Sunday.

In 1879, the Canadian Parliament declared that November 6 was Thanksgiving Day and a national holiday. In the following years, the date of Thanksgiving Day changed many times, until January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament declared the second Monday in October as Thanksgiving Day.
